Frederic Hilary (1908-1994) graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and earned a master�s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He began his conducting career at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where he taught for 14 years and founded the Gustavus Symphony Band. Hilary was the minister of music and choir conductor at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis for 24 years. He founded the Frederic Hilary Chorale in 1954 and conducted it for 38 years, until its last performance in 1992. The skillful and disciplined Frederic Hilary Chorale�s purpose was to explore rarely-heard choral works and to perform for �the joy of singing.�
